A thrilling series from Netflix based on the terrifying 1999 Kandahar hijack is scheduled to premiere. Renowned director Anubhav Sinha will helm the project. The series, titled “IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, will explore the horrific hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC 814 on December 24, 1999, while it was traveling from Kathmandu to New Delhi. The airplane was then redirected to Kandahar, Afghanistan. The hijacking, which lasted for seven torturous days, left the passengers and crew fearful and uneasy while authorities back home frantically tried to come up with a plan to ensure their safe return.

Vijay Varma, Patralekha, Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah, Arvind Swamy, Dia Mirza, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Amrita Puri, and Anupam Tripathi are among the series’ outstanding ensemble cast members. With a cast this brilliant, viewers can anticipate intense performances that perfectly convey the passion and drama of this true story.

this thrilling series is only on netflix

Renowned for his provocative movies like “Mulk,” “Article 15,” and “Bheed,” Anubhav Sinha stressed the value of realism in depicting this momentous occasion. Sinha attempts to provide a thorough and accurate description of the hijacking and its aftermath by means of painstaking investigation and firsthand statements from officers, passengers, and the pilot. He underlined how intricate the narrative is and how important it is to highlight little-known details of the incident in order to make it both historically accurate and compelling on an emotional level.

But realizing that this large-scale work wasn’t without its difficulties. What was originally scheduled to be an eight-month shoot took two years to complete, according to Anubhav Sinha.

Anubhav Sinha shows how much work and attention to detail went into making sure the series conforms to the highest standards of production quality and storytelling. Vice President of Content at Netflix India Monika Shergill emphasized the significance of conveying the human drama and suspense inherent in the storyline, calling the series a gripping and compelling account of one of the longest hijackings in aviation history.
